Landmark Community Theatre presents HEATHERS the musical at the Thomaston Opera House

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Landmark Community Theatre’s Student production of Heathers opens Thursday, August 11th at 8:00pm. The comedic dark musical based on the 1988 film, with music, lyrics, and book by Laurence O’Keefe and Kevin Murphy, Heathers follows the students of Westerberg High as they navigate the highs and lows of high school. Isabella Riccio (Cheshire) stars as Veronica Sawyer, the quiet smart sarcastic girl whose only goal is to graduate unscathed. This dream comes to an abrupt halt when she meets the handsome outcast, JD, played by Ryan Glander (Litchfield). Follow as these two lovebirds enact a sinister plan to remove the cliques that are plaguing their hallways and social lives. Under the direction of Dan Checovetes, Landmark Student Theatre offers regional teens real world experience, with qualified production staff, in all aspects of the performing arts culminating with one high quality, full-scale musical production not typically offered to teens.

Isabella recently won the HALO award for Best Featured Actress in a musical (Miss Andrew – Mary Poppins) and is attending Berklee College of Music in the fall for jazz vocal performance. She is releasing an album of original songs, with aspects of modern soul, R&B, and lots of jazz and pop influences. Ryan is a graduate from the music department at the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts, studying jazz vocal and instrumental music. He is attending Bryant University this fall with a double major in Global Supply Chain Management and Politics & Law. Lauren Stango (Middlebury), Sydney Wyatt (Southbury), and Dana Wilton (Torrington), also star in the production as the titled mean girls, “The Heathers.” Purchase tickets today for the 3 performances, Thursday August 11th, Friday August 12th, and Saturday August 13th, beginning at 8:00pm. *This production examines issues of bullying, teen suicide, homophobia, and gun violence, therefor this show is not recommended for anyone under the age of 16.
