LCT Youth Education Fall Program

LCT Youth Education Fall Program

Fall Acting Program available for Grades First through Eighth!

Landmark Community Theatre will be continuing it’s Youth Theatre Education program this Fall, beginning Saturday, September 9th and running every Saturday morning until December 2nd.  Youth Theatre classes are available to Grades 1-8. The students will meet Saturday mornings at our Center Street location, for approximately 50 minutes. Classes will offer developmentally appropriate activities to help students explore theatre arts. Instructors and activities will focus on increasing self-confidence and self-expression through theatre games, character development, storytelling, voice, and movement. Classes will culminate with a showcase production on the main stage at the Thomaston Opera House. The enrollment fee is $100.

Students are expected to perform in Thomaston's Light Up the Town on November 25th and the Student Theatre Variety Show on December 2nd. Program T-Shirts are to be worn for both performances and are included in enrollment fees. Class sizes are limited and are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Once a class is full, additional applicants will be placed on a waiting list and will be notified at the first available opening.

Landmark Community Theatre is pleased to announce a new teen theatre club. This will meet twice a month for 2-hour increments on Friday evenings (Dates and Times are TBD). The Teen Club is free of charge to any teen, Grade 9-12, who wishes to sign up. One meeting each month will feature age appropriate activities that promote self-expression, building confidence, and expanding creativity. Activities may include theatre games, singing, dancing, dramatic readings, skill development, watching a production or movie, etc. These gatherings would be student directed in terms of content, under the guidance of instructors. There is some funding for workshops that could include preparation for auditions, dance, voice or drama instruction as well as for pizza, soda snacks, etc. The second meeting each month will involve students in ongoing projects such as set builds, scenic painting, and helping out in the theatre community. All sessions will be appropriately supervised. These programs are funded in part by Connecticut Community Foundation.
